Non-Contact (Flag) Rugby Summer
Ridgewood Area Youth Flag Rugby is offering non-contact "touch" (flag) rugby program for boys and girls entering grades K through 9 this June and July.
Teams are divided into four age groups:
- Owls: Entering K and 1st
- Falcons: Entering 2nd and 3rd
- Hawks: Entering 4th, 5th and 6th
- Eagles: Entering 7th 8th and 9th
Our Flag rugby program is in its 13th year. Since many of the kids are relatively new to the fast-growing sport of Youth Flag Rugby, the focus is on developing skills, teaching the game of rugby, and learning proper technique.
Skills including running, kicking, passing, space strategy, teamwork, and self-confidence are developed. The skills learned in rugby are complimentary to other sports.
In Flag Rugby players play on teams of 7 to 9 players, in two fast ten-minute halves. There are multiple games at each level each weekend. The players get a really good workout every practice and tournament.
$145.00 Registration Fee (Shirt Included), $25.00 for flag rugby shorts - $290.00 family max
Each weekend we play multiple games in a tournament format (entire club plays at the same location each weekend). Tournament are played Saturday mornings 9AM to Noon beginning June 24th to July 22th.
The season finale culminates with The Morristown Flag Rugby Festival in Chester NJ. Always a great time, the tournament held the Guinness World Record for the largest Youth Flag Rugby Tournament in the World with over 100 teams and 1,000 children on 25 fields at Black River Fields, Chester, NJ.
Practices will begin the week of June 19th and continue until July 21st, 6:30 - 8:00 PM at Brookside Field at the bottom of Southern Parkway opposite Ridgewood High School on E Ridgewood Ave. (Practice Field Location Subject to Change)
